Is national identity in crisis? An assessment of national imaginations in the early 2020s

The current context of a worldwide pandemic has once again sparked debate about the bleak future nationalism. For those who support this view, fact that long-lasting national identities are being decisively contested represents major symptom crisis nationalism, which challenges associated with coronavirus outbreak can only accentuate. In paper, it is my objective to prove belief incorrect and demonstrate nationalism remains almost hegemonic as form political communal identification. My method for achieving goal comprises two interlinked endeavours: first, theoretical analysis concepts identity; second, an overview global conflicts debates determine extent they fit nationalist worldview. results research suggest perspectives – from arise not experiencing any meaningful challenge in contemporary societies.
